Somehow I started the Horvath series with #9. Since then, I have been reading them forward from #1, while also reading the newest installments as they are released. Some of the back stories have been a tiny bit confusing but that has absolutely not prevented me from enjoying each book on its own. 95% of 'Takedown'> happens on one horrible day for NYC. The action is constant and intense, but because of the compressed time frame the action is more reaction than the normal, detailed, well thought out plans we've come to know from Horvath, et. al. Frankly, as Tom Clancy before him, Brad Thor scares the pants off me with his prescience and eerie knowledge of terrorism and spycraft. I had no favorite quotes from 'Takedown', but there is a good guy wearing a t-shirt that declared: "Guns don't kill people. I kill people." I'm fairly certain that even the very best of good and great guys couldn't get away with wearing that shirt in 2019. Too bad, but such is life in the easily offended age of America.
