Of all the many Korean series I've watched this year, mostly on Netflix, this is the best one and the most unique. Set in a village teeming with life, it has an organic, earthy quality that I loved. Parts of it are fast-paced and funny, but mostly it takes its time in revealing the characters' stories in a quite poetic way. There is plenty of romance as well. I especially liked the background music, often a simple guitar melody. The standard in Korean TV series is 16 episodes, and like most of them the plot starts to sag at about the 2/3 point. You can tell they are looking for ways to stretch it out, endlessly repeating scenes and dwelling too much on a subplot. But overall, this is a wonderful program.
