This book is amazing! It focuses on Andriana, a remnant, and her knight protector, Ronan. It is set roughly a couple hundred years in the future, but since wars and bombs have destroyed so much, it is very much like the medieval times. A small group of remnants have been chosen since birth to save the world from darkness, and trained their whole lives, with their knights, but without meeting each other. Now their missions begin, the first of which is to find each other. This book follows them on their journey as they locate a portion of the other remnants. I was intrigued by the first page, though confused. Keep reading, the confusion will clear up! I am very anxious to get the second book so I can continue to follow their journey. There are many battles fought, both natural and spiritual, in this book. They are all learning to trust and follow the Maker (God). Overall, I think this author is amazing to be able to think up a complex story like this.

Andriana is an Ailith, one of those chosen to save the world from a collapsing economy. Action, romance, an engrossing plot, and solid characters commingle to make a truly spectacular start to series. Something that really made it different from other YA fiction out there were the characters. They were so real and believable—very refreshing after the bland personas that scatter the pages of other stuff.

I would not suggest this book. It is simplistic and not very well written. The characters are very flat, with little development. The plot is weak, and the overall construction of the story is ridiculous. Besides, love triangles are 100% overused in YA books, and this book is an example of just how overused it is.
Do not waste your time on this one.

"Every time I give in to concern about tomorrow, even the next hour, I rob *this* hour, *this* day of strength, peace. The Maker holds all my days. Do I trust him with them, or not?" - Asher

"Power begets power. But most people think the greater the power, the surer the foothold. It's not like that. Think of a mountain peak. The greater the power, the more narrow the foothold, and therefore the more likely we are to tip either way on its precipice." - Raniero
