How do I love Spenser, let me count the ways, wrote Newsday in its review of Parker's recent bestselling novel, Pastime. Now fans can add Double Deuce to their reasons for loving Spenser novels. This latest thriller finds Spenser forced by loyalty into an alien world of gangs, where violence is a way of life and outsiders enter at lethal risk.

Good plot which shows the real problem with all street gangs is cultural rather than social. Young males are violent and if the gang is in Africa or Boston they will react violently. Society can no more eradicate gangs than it can eliminate drugs unless the society changes-Parker gets it government doesn't.
