I've been a John D. MacDonald / Travis McGee fan since the 1970's.
I'm truly happy to see some of the books back in circulation at HPL, and hoping to see the rest of the Travis McGee series as well as the many other books written by John D. MacDonald. His writing style is spare, educated, wise and worldly. Always insightful.
Travis McGee lives in Florida on a house boat he won in a card game, doing "recovery" for people as the work comes along. Always interesting characters and situations.
Every book in the series is well worth the read.
And Travis loves Chet Baker. How can you go wrong.

Really enjoyed this writer. There were no hitches that made me as a reader stumble. So often in other books I can't tell who's speaking, or whom the writer is speaking about. MacDonald conveys this clearly without being obtrusive. Loved all the twists and turns with the characters. I'll be reading more of his work.
