It sounded so good, but really, it was a lot of exposition without a lot of action. Could have been a third shorter. Plus, the love story was unbelievable as in I had to put the book down and walk away for a minute.

Definitely not one of my favorites by V. Holt. To threaten a girl with rape in order to convince her that he is the one she wants, and for her to secretly find him exciting, was awful and unrealistic. This book was published in 1983 which, to me, meant the author should have known that rape is violent assault, not romance. He was a stalker really and she half-liked it.

Aunt Patty was funny, loving and wise. It was satisfying that Cordelia was a help to Teresa. The murder mystery part was imaginative.

I was getting bored before we finally got to the conclusion. It wrapped up quickly. Cordelia married the man who seemed more like a threat to her and he wasn't a likable character. He whined and begged.

If this book had been shorter and the offensive parts left out, it would have been a better story. It is not a book I would read again or recommend.
