Ghost Canoe was one of my all-time favorite books to read to my 4th graders. My kids would literally run OFF the playground after lunch recess to get there in time. We read it together as Readers' Theater, complete with the prop of a 12 inch lighthouse flashing and sounding the warning of rocks nearby, in our semi-darkened classroom. We started to make a Makah dictionary of words from the book and learned a lot about Pacific Northwest history. I highly recommend this book and reading it aloud with others adds to the enjoyment.
